IT Search Portal

A simplified search experience

Background:


Intel Corporation needed a new internal search portal to enhance the user experience for finding support for their IT products, emphasizing effective branding.


Objectives:


- Make it easy to find IT products at Intel through effective UX Design.


- Make common tasks easy for users to locate.


- Improve the overall user experience of search by implementing user research insights.


Approach:


- Design and test with employees using a one-day “donut testing approach” (donut for 5-minute feedback) to gather insights for graphic design improvements.


- Collaborate with product owners to ensure their pages are more search-friendly, leveraging best practices in UX UI.


- Utilize focus groups, surveys, iterative design, and A/B testing to refine the search experience.


Challenges:


- Existing searches yielded poor results, often stemming from poorly designed product pages, highlighting the need for better UX Design.


- Users lacked trust in search results due to past negative experiences and high expectations set by
